Yes- EFT is Credible

Overview of EFT
by Valerie Lis, 2014

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT Tapping) is an effective self-help tool to release emotional distress, including anger and sadness. An article in the American Psychological Association (APA) peer-reviewed journal Review of General Psychology concludes that EFT “meets initial criteria for Evidence-Based Practice” for a number of conditions, including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). There are also studies showing that it is effective on phobias, specific anxieties, generalized anxiety, depression, weight control, physical pain, physical illness, and athletic performance. In addition, EFT reduces cortisol levels, which is the primary hormone associated with stress.

In a 2005 study with 102 participants published in the Clinical Psychology Journal, all measures of psychological distress decreased after an EFT workshop and were maintained at the six month follow up.

In another study with veterans, 86% of those receiving the treatment dropped from the category of clinical (severe) PTSD to the category of subclinical PTSD. This is the best result for PTSD ever obtained in a clinical trial of any therapy and optimistic news for those suffering from PTSD.

Additional research has appeared in the following professional journals: the Journal of Clinical Psychology, the Journal of Nervous and Mental Disease, Primary Care and Community Psychiatry, Psychotherapy, Psychotherapy: Theory, Research, Practice, Training, the Review of General Psychology, and Traumatology.

Two U.S. congressmen have written letters to pursue its use at the Veterans Administration, with initial testing in 2014 at two VA locations. Classes are also being planned in 2014 to train medical staff at the Cleveland Medical Center, John Hopkins, and the Mayo Clinic.

The Association of Social Work Boards, the National Board of Certified Counselors, and the National Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors grant continuing education to their professional members for certification workshops through EFT Universe.

As a certified expert practitioner conducting training workshops and mentoring for EFT Universe worldwide, I have taught hundreds of students and supported thousands of clients to obtain consistent, lasting results with EFT. So, although it looks strange, it is a safe and empowering self-help tool. And it works.
